Sports role crucial for establishing country identity: NCP chair Dahal

Kathmandu / Apr 27: Nepal Communist Party chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal said sports has pivotal role in maintaining good health and discipline as well as establishing the country’s identify of country.

“Nepali women athletes are capable enough to compete in international sports. Their contribution to sports has heightened the image of the country,” he said while inaugurating national women’s volleyball tournament organised in Lagankhel by the Nepal Volleyball Association, Lalitpur on Saturday.

He referred to the excellent performance by Nepali women’s team in the SAAF Women’s Football Tournament in Biratnagar some months ago. Emphasising more state investment in sports, the former Prime Minister pledged to take efforts to help allocate the necessary budget for volleyball sector development in the upcoming fiscal year of 2019/20.
