Government hopes to have rapid economic development in FY 2019-20
Kathmandu / May 3: President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Friday said that the fiscal year 2019-20 will be historic for rapid economic development in the country.
Presenting the government’s policies and programs at the Federal Parliament Building at New Baneswor, the president shared the government’s priorities for coming years.
“The government has aimed to complete the construction of long-stalled national pride projects in a timely manner,” she said adding that the current government’s focus is on human resource development and maintaining the rule of law in the country.
“The government will further expedite the construction works of Budhigandaki hydropower and Melamchi Drinking Water projects,” she said.
The government is working to generate 500,000 employment opportunities in the upcoming fiscal year, she said. “Mid Hill Highway will be constructed within four years and the government has plan to make Kaligandaki Corridor an all-weather road,” Bhandari said.
The government is working to operate Gautam Buddha Airport by 2019 and Pokhara International Airport by 2021, according to the president.
President Bhandari said that the separatism and the politics of violence came to an end in the country in the past one year.
“The government will construct 300 suspension bridges in the upcoming fiscal year,” she said.
She also presented a list of achievements made by the government in domestic and external fronts in the past one year.
President Bhandari said that the government will increase the social security allowance in the upcoming fiscal year.
