Finance Minister Khatiwada claims effectiveness in revenue system

Kathmandu / May 22: A session of the House of Representatives today endorsed a proposal tabled seeking the consideration over the ‘Revenue Leakage (Investigation and Control- First Amendment) Bill-2075 BS’.

Finance Minister Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada presented the proposal before the meeting, on behalf of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Lawmakers Bharat Kumar Shah, Prem Suwal, Dibyamani Rajbhandari, Ram Kumari Jhankri, Rajendra Kumar KC, Uma Regmi, Pushpa Bhusal and Pramod Shah took part in the discussions on the bill’s principles.

In his replies to queries raised during the discussions, the minister claimed that the revenue office was brought under the subordination of the Office of Prime Minister with a view to enhancing good conducts, good governance and transparency in the revenue administration. As he said, the decision proved to be effective. Stating that the avoidance of tax would not be accepted under any circumstances, he pledged to make the audit and accounting system more effective in the days to come.

Police Adjustment Bill has empowered state: Home Minister Similarly, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa presented a proposal in the meeting, seeking the House permission to consider over the ‘Police Adjustment Bill- 2075 BS’. Dilendra Prasad Badu, Janardan Sharma, Prem Suwal, Meena Pandey and Devendra Raj Kandel took part in the deliberations in relation with the theoretical aspects of the bill.

In his repose to lawmakers’ queries about it, the minister said the bill aimed to further systematize the police administration assigned the responsibility of nation’s security. As he articulated, it would not interfere in the rights of state government.

“The bill has allotted rights to the states,” the Home Minister said, adding that center’s control and direction would not work there and the state government would be free to exercise its decisions regarding the transfer and promotion of police personnel. RSS
