Nepali embassy asks to send Nepali workers ensuring minimum facilities
Kathmandu / June 20: The Nepali Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has urged the foreign employment agencies in Nepal not to send any Nepali workers to Saudi Arabia until they were ensured of minimum facilities as determined by the Government of Nepal.
The Nepali Embassy in Riyadh also requested the foreign employment agencies in Nepal not to send the workers to Saudi Arabia unless there was Nepali-embassy validated vacancies/demand letter for the Nepali workers. Stating that due to taxation and inflation on food items and accommodation the living cost of the Nepali migrant workers in Saudi Arabia had increased over the course, the Nepali Embassy has expressed its concern over the prospects of Nepali migrant workers being duped by the agencies and being sent to Saudi Arabia without ensuring them minimum facilities and insurances among others.
The Nepali Embassy in the Riyadh has stated that the role of the foreign employment entrepreneurs was important in implementing the government’s decisions. The government of Nepal has determined that a non-skilled Nepali worker in Saudi Arabia be paid 1000 Saudi Riyal as a minimum wage and 300 additional Riyal for food. Likewise, the Embassy has asked the agencies to be present in the Nepali Embassy in Riyadh with authentic papers for validating the procurement papers for Nepali workers. RSS
