Fight for press freedom- Ex President Yadav

Palpa / June 29: Former President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has expressed that Nepali citizens are slowly being frustrated. Inaugurating the national conference of journalists of Dalit community on Saturday, the first president of the country, Yadav maintained that the frustration among the citizens would shatter the dream of the prosperity of the country.

“It is journalist’s duty to save the freedom for press”, he added. “Democracy, Republic and press freedom are integral parts of the nation. The constitution has ensured that all Nepali can live their life with dignity. There should be an end to discriminations based on caste, religion and language,” asserted the former president.

Govinda Acharya, president of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), urged the government to take the media bills back and claimed that this bill will restrict press and expression of freedom. “Democracy without press freedom is never successful,” added Acharya.
