As Visit Nepal Year 2020 nears, national campaign coordinator Vaidya seeks cooperation from all sides

Kathmandu / July 20: The National program coordinator for the Visit Nepal 2020, Suraj Vaidya, has urged one and all to extend support from their sides to make the year successful.

“We’ve little time left to launch the campaign in full swing. The Visit Nepal is a collective campaign- not of mere government or organization. It is beneficial to all, to the country,” he reminded. The coordinator also requested the media persons not to be annoyed if he did not receive the phone calls quickly. “I’m really busy now,” he reiterated, sharing the ongoing activities. Of course, only five months are left to get to the Visit Nepal Year 2020.

The official launch of the Visit Year would be held in the last week of coming December, according to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. Vaidya shared that the budget for the publicity and campaigning was not adequate- only Rs 100 million. But the campaign must be made successful. “We’re here to work as volunteers. Even the media persons have a vital role to make this mega campaign successful,” he reiterated.

The government has aimed at bringing in 2 million tourists in the Visit Nepal Year 2020. It was given priority in the current budget as well. Various promotional programs are underway across the country and abroad in the view of the Visit Year.

Five priorities for the Visit Year are, culture, adventure, spiritual program, wildlife and mice tourism, according to Vaidya. New destinations were being promoted by expanding the tourism centered in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitawan and Annapurna area. Similarly, goodwill ambassadors for the Visit Year were being appointed. Nepal festivals would be held in India and China this November. CB Adhikari / RSS
