Photos taken by Nepali satellite published

Makawanpur / August 3: Out of six, four pictures which were taken by the first Nepali satellite – ‘NepaliSat-1’ have been published. The pictures were published on the websites of Birds 3, a project under the UN.

These pictures were sent to concerned departments through e-mail, said scientist Hari Ram Shrestha. According to him, before publishing on the websites, these pictures were sent a day earlier to the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST). The satellite took the first image of the Sun and the next one was of cloud above Japan, he added and informed that besides taking photos, the satellite is assigned with other four technical research simultaneously.

Though the satellite could not take many pictures, these available pictures will be very useful for researchers and scientists, Shrestha claimed.

The satellite was launched on April 18 from the United States. The nanosatellite that weighs 1.033 kilograms has a maximum life of three years. The Nepali satellite was sent into space along with Sri Lanka’s Ravana-1 and Japan’s Yu Gui Shu.
