Number of COVID-19 infection reaches 42; Another COVID-19 patient discharged

Kathmandu / Apr. 21: The number of COVID-19 cases has reached 42 in Nepal.

After 11 new cases were confirmed in mosque area of Bhulke, Udayapur, the number reached 42, informed Dr. Bikash Devkota, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).

The number of COVID-19 infections in Udayapur itself has reached 23.

Three persons tested positive for the virus in 240 swab tests done today, out of 260 swabs brought from Udayapur at National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL), Kathmandu. While 20 swab tests are being conducted, informed MoHP by issuing a press statement today evening.

Furthermore, eight persons of the same area had tested positive for the virus in PCR test done by Koshi Hospital by collecting 69 swab samples on Saturday.

The swab samples of eight COVID-19 suspects were re-tested today at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, where the virus infection in all samples was confirmed.

Another COVID-19 patient discharged; says self-confidence helps him win coronavirus

COVID-19 infected Amrit Shahi of Dhangadi sub-metropolitan city has been discharged from Seti Provincial Hospital on Tuesday 29 days after he had tested positive for this deadly virus.

According to the spokesperson and emergency ward chief Jagadish Joshi, he was discharged earlier today after two final tests came out negative. Earlier, three tests for coronavirus had turned out to be positive.

After being discharged, Shahi said that self-confidence and immunity are the main medicine to this disease. “During my stay in the hospital, I focused on keeping high morale and maintaining sound physical condition,” he said.

He further added, “I used to practice yog, mainly Pranayam.” He said he used to recite Hanuman Chalisa for seven times in the morning, which he said, used to make him happy and confident. “During the day time, I used to dance and forget that I was a COVID-19 patient,” he said, adding that he also took due care of what he ate. He also suggested other COVID-19 patients to be positive and maintain immunity.

The UAE returnee, 34-year-old Shahi arrived in Kathmandu on March 20 via New Delhi, India. Next day, he reached Dhangadhi from Kathmandu by air. After suffering from fever and cough, he was admitted to Seti Provincial Hospital on March 24. He had tested positive for this virus on March 27.

Earlier, Raj BK from Lamichuha municipality-9, Kailali also recovered and was discharged from the same hospital.

Three more COVID-19 patients are undergoing treatment at Seti Provincial Hospital. All of them are normal, according to the doctors.

With this, five COVID-19 patients have recovered so far in Nepal. No deaths have been reported so far. Active cases have reached 37 as 11 new cases were reported today itself.
