MoHP provides latest update on COVID-19 in Nepal; Tatopani border resumes

Kathmandu / Apr. 25: Ministry of Health and Population provided the latest update on the COVID-19 infections in Nepal on Saturday.

At a regular press briefing, the spokesperson for the ministry Bikash Devkota said that the country has a total of 49 COVID-19 cases including 12 cases of recovery as of today. “All the 37 patients are normal,” Devkota said.

A 27-year-old man from Chitwan who earlier tested positive for coronavirus is being discharged later today, according to him.

According to him, the government has conducted a total of 49336 tests relating to COVID-19 (39670 through RTD method and 9666 through PCR method) across the country.

The spokesperson shared that altogether 14731 persons are under quarantine while 87 suspected patients are kept in isolation in various parts of the country. The MoHP has received 1900 calls relating to COVID in the past 24 hours.

Devkota said that some of the people under quarantine in various parts of the country are found infected by the malaria. However, he did not provide exact figure on the number of the persons infected by the malaria disease.

Medical equipment, safety materials being imported via Tatopani border point

The Tatopani border point is being operated daily since it resumption on April 8. The medical equipments and safety materials are being imported regularly.

Tatopani customs office informed that the medical equipments and health-related materials provided in grant by China’s Tibet government and those bought by the private sectors are brought via the border point. Chief of customs office, Lal Bahadur Khatri, said Nepal has so far imported two PCR machines, 20,000 sets of testing kits, and 72,000 pieces of face masks. Similarly, 12,000 pieces of disposable masks, 26,723 litres of sanitizers, 3,009 sets of gloves, and 12,260 sets of PPEs were brought.

The Tibet government of China provided the health related materials worth Rs 83 million to Nepal in grant.

On March 25, the meeting of the Council of Ministers had decided to resume the Tatopani border point to bring the essential materials.RSS
