COVID-19 update: 2,225 new cases, 2,846 recoveries, 13 deaths in last 24 hours

Kathmandu / Oct. 24: With 2,225 new cases of the novel coronavirus infection confirmed on Saturday, the national COVID-19 caseload has reached 155,233.

“In 13,846 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 2,225 persons, 779 females and 1,446 males were found to have been infected with SARS-CoV-2,” informed the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in its update.

Currently, there are 46,057 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 32,873 are in home isolation. Some 309 COVID-19 patients are admitted to the ICU while 70 are receiving treatment with ventilator facility. A total of 3,322 persons are currently placed in quarantine.

Meanwhile, 2,846 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 108,334 cases of recoveries and the recovery rate stands at 69.8 per cent.

As many as 13 people have succumbed to the deadly virus in the last 24 hours and with this, the national COVID-19 related death tally has reached 842.

Kathmandu valley logs 1,110 new cases

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Saturday confirmed 1,110 new cases of COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley.

In 13,846 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done across the nation in the last 24 hours, as many as 1,110 persons, 429 females and 691 males, were found with the novel coronavirus infection in the Valley, informed the MoHP in its update.

Of the 1,217 infections recorded by Bagmati State in the last 24 hours, 1,110 were found in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur districts.

Currently, there are 20,772 active cases of COVID-19 in Kathmandu. The capital city’s COVID-19 tally stands at 55,077 including 34, 163 cases of recoveries and 192 fatalities.

Likewise, Bhaktapur has recorded 5,150 infections until now of which, 3,641 patients have already recovered while 55 succumbed to the infection. There are 1,454 active cases in Bhaktapur.

Lalitpur district has recorded 7,736 cases of novel coronavirus infection until now including 5,149 recoveries and 54 deaths. Currently, there are 2,533 active cases in Lalitpur.
