MoHP reports 1,015 new COVID-19 cases and 435 in Kathmandu Valley

Kathmandu / April 18: The Ministry of Health and Population on Sunday confirmed 1,015 new cases of COVID-19, taking the nation’s novel coronavirus tally to 284,673.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 1,015 new infections were recorded in 5,084 RT-PCR tests and 81 cases were recorded via 699 antigen tests being done at health desks in various border points.

Of the new infections, 435 were recorded in Kathmandu Valley including 45 in Bhaktapur, 64 in Lalitpur and 326 in Kathmandu.

Currently, there are 6,290 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 576 patients are admitted to various institutional isolation and 5,714 are placed in home isolation. Likewise, 85 people, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.

Of the active patients, 116 are admitted to the ICU and 46 are receiving treatment with a ventilator facility.

Meanwhile, 262 COVID-19 patients recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 275,300 cases of recovery and the recovery rate is at 96.04 per cent.

Moreover, eight COVID-19 related fatalities were confirmed in the last 24 hours. Currently, the COVID-19 death toll is 3,083 and the death rate is at 1.1 per cent.
