MoHP confirms 1,667 new cases of COVID-19 and 11 fatalities in 24 hours

Kathmandu / April 20: The Ministry of Health and Population on Tuesday confirmed 1,667 new cases of COVID-19, taking the nation’s novel coronavirus tally to 287,567.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 1,667 new infections were recorded in 8,055 RT-PCR tests, and 69 cases were recorded via 683 antigen tests being done at health desks in various border points.

Currently, there are 8,659 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 7,074 are placed in home isolation while 685 are receiving treatment in various institutional isolations. Likewise, 92 people, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.

Of the active patients, 160 are admitted to the ICU and 45 are receiving treatment with a ventilator facility.

Meanwhile, 251 COVID-19 patients recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 275,806 cases of recovery and the recovery rate is at 95.9 per cent.

Moreover, eleven COVID-19 related fatalities were confirmed in the last 24 hours. Currently, the COVID-19 death toll is 3,102 and the death rate is 1.08 per cent.
