2,449 new cases of COVID-19 in 24 hours

Kathmandu / April 23: The Ministry of Health and Population on Friday confirmed 2,449 new cases of COVID-19, taking the nation’s novel coronavirus tally to 294,601.

In 8,798 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, 2,449 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2,” informed the Health Ministry in the regular press briefing.

Likewise, out of 866 antigen tests done in the 24 hours, the virus infection was detected in 110 people.

Currently, there are 14,724 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation and 75 people mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.

Meanwhile, 410 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 276,755 cases of recovery and the recovery rate is at 93.9 per cent.

Five COVID-19 related fatalities were reported in the last 24 hours. Currently, the COVID-19 death toll is at 3,122.
