2,486 new cases and 14 deaths of COVID-19 in 24 hours

Kathmandu / April 24: The Ministry of Health and Population on Saturday confirmed 2,486 new cases of COVID-19, taking the nation’s novel coronavirus tally to 297,087.

In 7,525 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, 2,486 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2,” informed the Health Ministry in its COVID-19 update.

Likewise, out of 1,143 antigen tests done in the 24 hours, the virus infection was detected in 133 people.

Currently, there are 16,828 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation and 71 people, mostly those who returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.

Meanwhile, 368 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 277,123 cases of recovery and the recovery rate is at 93.3 per cent.

14 COVID-19 related fatalities were reported in the last 24 hours. Currently, the COVID-19 death toll is at 3,136.
