COVID-19 update: 3,442 new infections and 12 fatalities in 24 hours

Kathmandu / April 26: The Ministry of Health and Population on Monday confirmed new 3,442 cases of COVID-19, taking the nation’s novel coronavirus tally to 303,561.

In 12,400 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, 3,442 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2,” informed the Health Ministry in the regular press briefing.

Likewise, out of 893 antigen tests done in the 24 hours, the virus infection was detected in 114 people.

Currently, there are 22,434 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 1,899 are receiving treatment in institutional isolation and 20,535 are in home isolation. Likewise, 65 people mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.

Of the active patients, 268 are admitted to the ICU and 78 are under treatment with ventilator facility.

Meanwhile, 378 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 277,951 cases of recovery and the recovery rate is at 91.5 per cent.

Moreover, 12 COVID-19 related fatalities were confirmed across the nation in the last 24 hours. The nation’s COVID-19 death toll is at 3,176.
