COVID-19 active cases surge to 30,209 with 4,774 new infections
Kathmandu / April 28: The Ministry of Health and Population on Wednesday confirmed 4,774 new cases of COVID-19, taking the nation’s novel coronavirus tally to 312,699.
In 13,879 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the past 24 hours, 4,774 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2,” informed Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari, assistant spokesperson at Health Ministry in the regular press briefing.
Likewise, 955 out of antigen tests done in the 24 hours, the virus infection was detected in 123 people.
Currently, there are 30,209 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 2,364 are receiving treatment in institutional isolation and 27,845 are in home isolation. Likewise, people mostly those who had returned from abroad, 54 are placed in quarantine.
Of the active patients, 317 are admitted to the ICU and 98 are under treatment with ventilator facility.
Meanwhile, 773 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 279,279 cases of recovery and the recovery rate is at 89.3 per cent.
