A record 35 COVID-19 fatalities in a day and 4,831 new infections

Kathmandu / April 29: The Ministry of Health and Population on Thursday confirmed 35 COVID-19 related fatalities. This is the highest number of COVID-19 deaths recorded in a single day until now.

With this, the nation’s COVID-19 death toll has climbed to 3,246 and the death rate is at 1.02 per cent.

Moreover, 4,831 new cases of COVID-19 was confirmed in the past 24 hours, taking the nation’s novel coronavirus tally to 317,350.

In 12,597 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the past 24 hours, 4,831 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2,” informed the Health Ministry in its daily update.

Likewise, out of 963 antigen tests done in the 24 hours, the virus infection was detected in 97 people.

Currently, there are 34,117 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 3,201 are receiving treatment in institutional isolation and 30,916 are in home isolation. Likewise, 59 people mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.

Of the active patients, 337 are admitted to the ICU and 107 are under treatment with ventilator facility.

Meanwhile, 888 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 280,167 cases of recovery and the recovery rate is at 88.2 per cent.
