Woman runs a Cow Farm, earns Rs. 8 lakh a Year

Amar Raj Naharki, Tanahun, June 17: Srijana Tiwari has been earning Rs. 8 lakh a year by means of cow husbandry.

She overcame the boundary of kitchen chores and ambitiously ran the cow farm to become a millionaire.

She shared that she makes a saving of Rs. 8 lakh a year by the sale of milk from the cows in her shed.

“In the past, I would be asking my husband for money for my daily expenses and even when I needed to go to my maternal home. But, after I started cow farm, I have been earning money and there is no need to ask him even for the education of our children,” she shared her happiness.

The resident of Belbas in Byas Municipality -13, Srijana has 10 cows- Jersey and Holstein.

Srijana said that she started her business 21 years ago and that Rs. 65 to 70 thousand per month can be saved from the sale milk.

She started from a cow after children grew up and she increased the number of cows to 10.

She is raising cow in 25 Ropani of land, growing grass in 13 Ropani and growing paddy in 12 Ropani for straw.

She viewed a lot can be earned by doing farming such as goat, poultry and cow as per geography and climate and also by doing vegetable farming.

She suggested youths vying for flying abroad for jobs to think differently and find profitable occupation at home.

She made it a point that the local governments should focus on promoting commercial farming.

She lamented that Byas Municipality has prioritized rooftop farming while pay little heed to commercial farming where land is abundant.

She said that she has good income as she has straw, grass in her own land.

She has registered a firm, Tiwari Cow Farm, from where she sells milk.

She has a plan to increase investment in her farm after the restrictions enforced to curb corona infections are relaxed. “I will add five more cows to my farm.”
