NC resolves Active Membership Issue

Kathmandu / Aug. 24: After hectic exercise lasting for weeks, the ruling Nepali Congress has managed to resolve the disputes relating to party’s active members.

The Active Membership Problem Resolve Task Force of the Nepali Congress on Monday submitted its report to party president and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba after resolving the membership row.

Coordinator of the Task Force Krishna Prasad Sitaula, and its two members, Ramesh Lekhak and Minendra Rijal jointly handed over the report to Deuba at the latter’s personal residence in Budhanilkantha Monday evening.

NC senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel was also present on the occasion.

After resolving the active membership row, now the Nepali Congress can hold its 14 general convention as scheduled.

The Task Force had settled all remaining disputes that were not resolved by Active Membership Probe Committee that had submitted its report one month back. The Task Force managed to settled row of Bara, Saptari, Dhanusa and Sarlahi districts.

Earlier, the Task Force was scheduled to submit the report to president Deuba on Sunday, but it failed to do so as some disputes were still under discussion.

The NC had formed the three-member Task Force led by Sitaula to resolve the active membership disputes after the Active Membership Probe Committee was unable to settle the disputes of some districts.

The Task Force was entrusted the responsibility of resolving the dispute and to submit its report by August 19, but it took four more days to accomplish the task.

The ward level convention of NC is beginning from September 3, and before the convention kicks off, the list of the party’s active members should be submitted to the election committee of the party.
