Govt forms taskforce to assess damages caused by unseasonal rainfall

Kathmandu / Oct. 25: The government has formed a taskforce to prepare a report of the damages caused to the paddy by the recent unseasonal rainfalls.

The six-member taskforce is to submit the report within 3 days about the damages caused to paddy due to inundation and floods triggered by the unseasonal rainfalls.

“Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs will be the coordinator of the taskforce and its members will be the secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture and Avian Development, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration and secretary of National Planning Commission,” informed Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, the government spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology, after the meeting of the Council of Ministers held today.

The government has also decided to increase ration rate to the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force by 15 per cent.

The Cabinet also approved the resignation submitted by the chairman of the Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), Sushil Ghimire, and appointed Yuba Raj Adhikari to the same post.

Similarly, the government has appointed Dr. Rabindra Ghimire and Manda Pokharel to the post of chairman and executive member of Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited.
