13th meeting of the Nepal-EU Joint Commission begins Wednesday
Kathmandu / Nov. 23: The 13th meeting of the Nepal-EU Joint Commission begins here on Wednesday. Deputy Managing Director of the European Union’s External Affairs for Asia and the Pacific, Paola Pampaloni has arrived here to take part in the meeting. Pampaloni will be co-chairing the meeting with Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Paudel.
The meeting is said to review the progress of the 12th meeting held last year including the progress of development assistance received by Nepal and its overall aspects while deliberations shall be held in post-COVID economic recovery, trade and investment, energy, science and technology, agriculture, human resource development, environmental protection, post-earthquake reconstruction, rural development, nutrition, education and good governance.
The agenda of the meeting is to expand Nepal’s export trade and assist in the manufacturing of products with comparative advantage, development assistance and human rights, and expansion of communication network.
There will also be in-depth discussions on strategic plans such as transport development, energy and investment in digital networks, and expanding people-to-people contacts. Various aspects of EU assistance to fulfill Nepal’s commitments made at the recent UN Conference on Climate Change in Glasgow will also feature in the discussion.
In the meeting, Nepal and the European Union will also raise the issue of cooperation and partnership in close contact with the United Nations, World Trade Organization and other international forums, promoting world order and multilateralism based on rules and procedures. RSS
