Nepal-Bangladesh business relations stressed

Kathmandu / May 1: Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal, Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Dilendra Prasad Badu Friday.

During the meeting, various issues of relations and cooperation between the two countries were discussed.

Ambassador Chowdhury expressed the view that the relations between the two countries could be further strengthened through cooperation in the fields of energy development, trade facilitation and tourism promotion.

Pointing out the need to move ahead with the negotiation of a facilitated trade agreement between Nepal and Bangladesh, he said that the Bangladesh government was ready to facilitate the export of Nepali goods to Bangladesh.

Expressing concern over the implementation of the agreement reached during the visit of President Bidya Devi Bhandari to Bangladesh last year, the Ambassador expressed confidence that the Minister would play a leading role in investment-friendly environment and investment security as Bangladesh wants to invest in Nepal in energy development, trade, tourism and other sectors.

On the occasion, Minister Badu extended special thanks to Bangladesh for its support in the health sector during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Stating that such cooperation has helped in deepening the relations not only between the governments of the two countries but also at the grassroots level, Minister Badu expressed the view that the two countries could reap maximum mutual benefits by increasing bilateral trade and investment.

He also said that discussions are underway to facilitate trade agreement between the two countries and that it should be used for trade promotion to the benefit of both the countries.

He also assured that the government of Nepal was ready to protect and facilitate investment in the field of tourism and development infrastructure.
