Govt decides to declare loan-sharking a crime

Kathmandu / Mar. 28: The government has decided to term loan-sharking as a crime by amending national criminal code.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Tuesday made a decision to include loan-sharking in crimes by making necessary amendment to the National Criminal Procedure (Code) Act, 2017.

The government made the decision so as to bring loan-sharking under legal purview by forwarding necessary amendment to the Code, according to Narendra KC, communication expert to Minister for Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma.

The government decision comes in the wake of some victims of the loan-sharking stage protest in Kathmandu coming all the way on foot from Mahottari.
