Govt announces new rules for visit visa

Kathmandu / Jan 23: The government has introduced new rules for traveling abroad on visit and tourist visas. The new rules will come into effect from January 24.

The Department of Immigration (DoI) has made new arrangements by revoking the previous rules for foreign travel on visit and tourist visas.

According to the new rules, a passport with a validity period of at least six months is required to get a travel permit. The new rule also makes a provision that the entry permit from the respective country or the country of destination will no longer be required.

Similarly, the new rule states that round-trip air tickets, evidence of hotel booking for the entire visit duration, or, in the case of staying with a relative without hotel reservation, a citizenship certificate or any other document indicating the relationship within three generations of the same household will be needed.
