IFC commits to expanding investment in Nepal

Kathmandu / Sept 10: The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is to expand its investment in Nepal.

During a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel at the Ministry today, IFC regional director for South Asia, Imad N Fakhoury, said the IFC is ready for an investment escalation in Nepal, according to the Minister’s Private Secretariat.

The IFC had invested 100 million US dollars in Nepal. The IFC regional director said the promotion of green energy, job creation, and economic engagement are the priorities of the IFC and they are committed to investing more in Nepal.

As the Secretariat said, the Minister apprised the IFC representative that Nepal needs more investment to improve its economy, calling upon the IFC to consider scaling up investment in Nepal bearing this situation in mind. RSS
