The online facility for disseminating information in this regard has been launched with collaborative efforts of the Department of Health Services, the Ministry of Health and Population, and the Sahid Dharmabhakta National Transplant Centre.

Minister for Health and Population Pradip Paudel inaugurated the service amidst a programme here today.

On the occasion, he said the service will be convenient for the citizens across the country.

“Ninety-eight per cent of kidney transplant recipients and 90 per cent of lung transplant recipients in the country are living normal lives and the government is committed to further expanding transplant services,” the Minister said on the occasion.

According to Centre Chief, Dr Pukar Chandra Shrestha, the Centre recorded a total of 1,335 kidney transplant cases and 30 lung transplants in the past 12 years. As the country’s sole government-specialized transplant centre, it is in the position of providing kidney transplant services to only about 200 patients annually, out of 3,000 aspiring for the service.
