Medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai released; says he will continue his fight against injustice
Kathmandu / Dec 20: Medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai released from jail following the order of the Supreme Court of Nepal.
The apex court on Friday issued the order after hearing a writ petition filed by Prasai’s son, Nirajan, through his representative Narayan Khawas, seeking Prasai’s release.
A division bench of justices Nahakul Subedi and Sharanga Subedi issued the release order. Prasai’s son filed the writ petition after his father was recently arrested from the premises of the Kathmandu District Court soon after his release. Although Prasai was released on one charge, the police re-arrested him on another charge.
He is currently under investigation by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) for allegedly extorting money from a businessman, while also facing accusations related to organized crime. Prasai had also been arrested for allegedly spreading misinformation about Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Meanwhile addressing media and his well-wishers, Prasain informed that he will continue his struggle for justice. He also shared that the recent move of the government has proved that the state detained him just to cover up its weaknesses.
