Commission Formed Under Former Justice Karki to Probe Gen-Z Movement; KC Appointed as CIB Chief; Hitendra Dev Removed from NEA

Kathmandu / Sept. 21: A judicial inquiry commission has been formed under the leadership of former Justice Gauri Bahadur Karki to investigate the Gen-Z movement.
Sunday’s Cabinet meeting decided to form the commission with Karki as coordinator. Former AIG of Nepal Police, Bigyan Raj Sharma, and legal expert Bishweshwar Raj Bhandari have been appointed as members, according to Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal. The commission will have a tenure of three months.
Earlier, the Cabinet had only reached a theoretical agreement to establish such a commission.
The Gen-Z protests on September 8 and 9 claimed a large number of young lives, with 74 deaths confirmed so far.
KC Appointed as CIB Chief
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has appointed AIG Dr. Manoj Kumar KC as its new chief.
Hitendra Dev Removed from Authority; Manoj Silwal Appointed as New MD
The Cabinet also decided to remove Hitendra Dev Shakya from the post of Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).
Finance Minister Rameshwar Khanal informed that Shakya has been reassigned as a special-class expert at the Water and Energy Commission. Former Deputy Executive Director of NEA, Engineer Manoj Silwal, has been appointed as the new Managing Director of the Authority.
