Nepal faction of UML and Thakur faction of JSP register new parties at EC

Kathmandu / Aug. 18: Leaders close to a senior leader of the CPN (UML) Madhav Kumar Nepal has submitted an application at the Election Commission, Nepal for registering a new political party.

Metmani Chaudhari, UML lawmaker close to Madhav Nepal faction, informed that they have applied for registering a new party at the Election Commission.

UML senior leader Nepal submitted an application for registering a new party at the Election Commission, according to Chaudhari.

The name of the new party has been demanded to be Nepal Communist Party UML (Socialist) and election symbol an open book.

Lawmakers such as Ram Kumari Jhakri and Rajendra Pande reached the Election Commission to register the new party.

Thakur registers Janata Samajbadi Party, Nepal (Democratic) at EC

The ousted Chairman of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), Mahantha Thakur filed an application at the Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday, seeking to register a new political party.

The new political party has been named Janata Samajbadi Party, Nepal (Democratic). The party has chosen a bicycle as its election symbol.

Thakur’s move to register a new political party comes weeks after the EC granted official recognition to the Upendra Yadav-led faction of the JSP. Chairman Yadav had then ousted Thakur from the post of chairman, leaving him only as a general member of the party.

The new political party will have a total of 24 central executive members.
