Locals happy as water starts flowing from a spring after 24 years

Kathmandu / Nov 9: Water has started flowing again from a spring that had been dried up for the past 24 years in Adanchuli Rural Municipality-3 Rithapata in the southern part of Humla. The locals are happy after water started coming from the source which had not seen water for 24 consecutive years.

After water started flowing from the dry spring, the tap was repaired by the villagers according to their customs and traditions. The residents of Rokaya village of Adanchuli-3 used to drink water from a place called Rithapata, 24 years ago. After the water in the spring dried up, they had to go elsewhere to fetch drinking water.

Meem Bahadur Rokaya, a local resident, said that the tap was repaired with the money collected by playing Deusi Bhailo during Tihar. Following incessant rain a few days ago, water started flowing from the spring which had remained dried up for 24 years.

According to him, all the senior citizens of the village were present when the locals repaired the tap. He also said that if water continues to flow for a few days, the tap will be constructed using cement. The locals are happy that they now no longer have to go far away to fetch water.
