Nepali organization selected for research in China
Kathmandu / Nov 12: The China-Nepal Friendship Medical Research Center of Professor Rajiv Kumar Jha, established at Xi’an Medical University in Xi’an, China, has been selected for the research institute convened by the Chinese government.
According to the Chinese newspaper Shangsi Daily, the institute has been selected in an open proposal made by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China’s Shaanxi Province for Chinese and foreign institutes conducting research in China. The daily had called for proposals from organizations across China three months ago. According to the magazine, 20 organizations and 10 individuals were selected from the applications received as per the call.
Professor and Dr Rajiv Kumar Jha is also among the 10 selected persons. He is currently teaching at Xi’an Medical University. It is the first foreign-named organization to be selected for research following a call from China’s Shaanxi provincial government.
The institute is conducting research on the recent problems and challenges in the health sector as well as how to reduce the growth rate of pancreatic cancer. Prof. Dr Jha responded that he was very happy with the opportunity of the research provided by the Shaanxi Provincial Government of China. He also said that he would exchange experiences on the work that can be done in the field of science and technology in Nepal too.
Former Nepali Ambassador to China Mahendra Pandey said that it was a matter of pride for Nepal since a Nepali professor was selected in a high level proposal proposed by the Chinese government.
