Constitutional Council recommends Hari Krishna Karki for the appointment of Chief Justice

Kathmandu / May 8: The Constitutional Council (CC) has recommended Hari Krishna Karki for the position of Chief Justice.

A CC member stated that the CC meeting held on Monday recommended Karki, who is currently serving as Acting Chief Justice, was recommended for the appointment as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

Following the parliamentary hearing, President Ram Chandra Poudel will appoint Karki as the new Chief Justice.

Deepak Kumar Karki served as Acting Chief Justice after the impeachment motion was filed against the then Chief Justice, Cholendra SJB Rana.

Hari Krishna Karki has been serving as Acting Chief Justice since Deepak Kumar Kari retired in October 2022 due to age limits.
