OAG report: Arrears over Rs 1.18 trillion

Kathmandu / May 26: The government arrears have reached Rs 1.18 billion. This amount makes up the arrears from government offices, institutional corporations, and provincial and local governments and related bodies.

The 61st annual report of the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) stated that the last fiscal year, 2079/80 alone witnessed Rs 236 billion arrears.

Categorically, the auditing found that the offices of federal, provincial and local governments and corporations owed the liability of Rs 669 billion. The additional auditing liability, revenue dues, amount to get reimbursed after settling foreign grant and loans make up Rs 513 billion. Piled up arrears and dues to be collected account for Rs 1183 billion.

In the updated arrears, the federal government offices make up Rs 342 billion, while provincial government offices Rs 28.46 billion and local government offices Rs 193 billion. (RSS)
