RPP Vice-chair Mishra and General Secretary Rana presented before court for remand; Police arrest nine suspects in Bhat-bhateni Supermarket vandalism and theft


Kathmandu / Mar 30: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) vice chair Rabindra Mishra and General Secretary Dhawal Shumsher JBR Rana among others presented before district court Kathmandu for remand on Sunday.

They were arrested on charges of inciting protesters in Tinkune during the royalists’ demonstration on Friday.

Earlier, the police had taken them to the District Government attorney’s office.

Police arrest nine suspects in Bhat-bhateni Supermarket vandalism and theft

Police have arrested nine individuals in connection with vandalism and looting at Bhat-bhateni Supermarket in Koteshwor.

The suspects were arrested from various locations in Kathmandu and have been sent to the Baneshwor Police Circle for further investigation.

The incident occurred during a joint protest led by Durga Prasai, public commander of the Joint People’s Movement Committee, on March 28. The protest by a royalist group led to the vandalism of the supermarket, and several individuals were accused of looting during the eve.

Police said that the arrested suspects, who come from various districts including Dhanusha, Sarlahi, Nuwakot, Sindhuli, and Sunsari, were found in possession of items like alcohol, clothing, and cosmetics.

The arrested individuals include Ashish Singh (Dhanusha), Prem Kumar Mahato (Sarlahi), Ravi Ranjan Kumar (Bihar, India), Sushila Kumal (Nuwakot), Alisa Rai (Sunsari), Balakumari Karki (Kathmandu), Nirmala Karki (Sindhupalchok), Chitra Maya Basnet, and Sushmita Baral (Sindhuli).

Police Superintendent Angur GC said that investigations are ongoing and that they are searching for other individuals involved in the incident.
