Incumbent govt will complete its full five-year term: PM Oli

Kathmandu / Oct 4: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has claimed that his government will successfully lead the country for a full five-year term.

Talking to journalists upon his arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu from New York, USA, after attending the 73rd United Nations General Assembly on Thursday, PM Oli said the government is on the right track, doing good works, and will complete its full term as everyone has seen its “attributes”.

PM Oli expressed his dissatisfaction over the criticism against the government’s slow-paced work.

“The current fiscal budget could only be used for the month of July and August, the budget has not even been released properly. It is strange that there are only complaints about this and that as if Nepal became poor in the past seven months,” PM Oli said. “Were all the roads of Nepal were blacktopped before?” he questioned, sarcastically.

In a different context, PM Oli said no one should run after the politics of rumours. “Sometimes people can vent their dissatisfaction in a poetic manner. But it is not necessary to make it a big issue,” said Oli,indicating at the criticism made by his party leader.

Senior leader of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Madhav Kumar Nepal had criticised the government when PM Oli was in the USA.

He landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) via Qatar Airlines flight at around 4 pm on Thursday.

House Speaker Krishna BahadurMahara, National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timsina, Defence Minister IshworPokharel, Nepal Communist Party leader SubasNembang, among other leaders, welcomed him at the airport.

Addressing the UN General Assembly on September 27, PM Oli had said that his government was moving towards creating an egalitarian and just society in Nepal after the successful elections. In his address, the prime minister had highlighted the historic political transformation of Nepal with a stable government following the promulgation of the new constitution.

PM Oli had left for New York on September 22, leading the Nepali delegation to the UNGA. In New York, Oli held meetings with US President Donald Trump, and British Prime Minister Theresa May, Indian External Affairs Minister SushmaSwaraj, among other world leaders, on the margins of UN gathering. PM Oli was accompanied by his spouse Radhika, Foreign Minister PradeepGyawali and his Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal.

After the end of UN gathering, Oli also went to Costa Rica for a three-day official visit. He returned to New York from Costa Rica on Wednesday before returning home. Courtesy: Ekantipur
