Youths trek Sindhupalchowk to collect funds for quake-survivors
Kathmandu / November 23: Around 250 youths gathered in the capital Monday to call on the government to immediately begin the post-earthquake reconstruction efforts to heal the people left homeless by the deadly disaster that struck the country in April.
A vast majority of the people who rendered homeless by the quake are still forced to stay in hut or temporary shelter which is insufficient to ward off cold during the winter, they said.
They also requested the entire youth community to gear up for nation rebuilding as only the government sole efforts are not enough to reconstruct the damaged infrastructures.
It was the same group who with the participation of some 150 monks and people from Bhutan, Vietnam, Germany, India and Nepal trekked the quake-hit Sindhupalchowk to collect funds for the survivors.
One Banshalal Tamang from Sindhupalchowk who joined the trekking said all Nepali should unite to support the earthquake survivors.
The data shows some 1.2 million people of the quake-affected districts are living in temporary shelters. The eight-day trekking that originated from Helambu of Sindhupalchowk completed upon coming to the capital. RSS
