Mapping of new trek route starts

Myagdi / March 10: The mapping of the Dhaulagiri – Senchuri trekking route straddling the untouched settlements in and around the Beni headquarters along the Raghughat river has started promising tourists an adventurous getaway to an unchartered landscape in Nepal.

A technical team is currently launching onsite researches to map out and set up signposts along the trail. The team headed by tourism expert, Dr Prem Sharma, includes representatives from Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Village Tourism Forum Nepal (VITOF Nepal), Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI), tourism entrepreneurs and journalists.

Myagdi Chamber of Commerce and Industry General Secretary, Rajesh Shakya, said the mapping and installation of the signposts will facilitate the tourists’ visit to the area. The trail will start from Jhin area of the Beni headquarters traversing through Pakhapani, Kotgaun, Rayakhor, Chaurkhani, the base of the southern face of Mt Dhaulagiri and from there to Chimkhola, Darmija, Dagnam and back to Beni.

The pristine features on offer along the Dhaulagiri – Senchuri trek route include the breathtaking scenery of rugged terrain weaving through hills and mountains, rural lifestyle, cultures of the Magar and Chantyal communities, and quiet and soothing aroma of the natural environment. The trail that may last a week at the most also offers Chimkhola’s quintessential Thali Dance, Tatopani Kunda (an alpine lake) of Darmija and Todke.

The promotion of the much due tourism in the area is also expected to contribute towards locals’ socio-economic growth and upgrade their livelihood. RSS
