House committee to prepare final report on Open University bill

ParliamentparliamentKathmandu / April 19: The Women, Children, Senior Citizen and Social Welfare Committee under the Legislature-Parliament has decided to prepare the final report on the Nepal Open University Bill, 2072.

A task force has been formed under the coordination of committee president Ranju Kumari Jha for this purpose.

The committee took this decision after holding discussions on the suggestions and amendments on the Bill at its meeting today.

The bill was tabled in Parliament by Chitra Lekha Yadav, the Minister for Education in the erstwhile government.

It is expected that the open university would be useful to people who do not have access to higher education due to obstacles like poor economic and social condition and geographical remoteness.

The infrastructure committee has already purchased around 14 ropanis land for the university at Banepa in Kavrepalanchok district. At present there are nine universities in the country. RSS
