28 die, 24 disappear after water-induced disasters across country

Nepal FloodKathmandu / July 26: The Home Ministry has updated the casualties, disappearance and damages caused by the water-induced disasters across the country. As per the latest update, 28 persons lost their lives while 24 have been missing, and 10 injured.

Those killed by the landslide and flooding are six in Pyuthan, while five in Gulmi, four in Baglung, three in Makwanpur, two in Rupandehi and one each in Kathmandu, Arghakhnachi, Dolakha and Sarlahi.

Issuing a press statement on Tuesday, Spokesperson at the Home Ministry, Jhankanath Dhakal, said among the people disappeared in the floods and landslide, 19 are from Pyuthan, two in Baglung and one each in Sunsari, Saptari and Jhapa districts.

Similarly, those injured by the disaster are from Gulmi, 3; Kathmandu, and Baglung 2 each; and Pyuthan, Dolakha and Arghakhanchi, one each.

As many as 75 houses have been fully damaged while two suffered partial damages across the country.

A suspension bridge over the Tinau River was swept away by the floods while the concrete bridge linking Urlabari and Rangeli was also destroyed.

In view of the swelling water level in the Narayani River, the people from Chitwan and Nawalparasi have been urged to remain in high alert.

Teams of security persons were mobilized to remove the people from the places near the River.

The local administrations have also been directed to be standby all the time for the potential rescue and relief operation. RSS
