Kamal Thapa shakes hands with Lokendra Bahadur ChandKathmandu / Aug. 06: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-Nepal) have said they would announce the unification between two parties on coming Tuesday, August 9.

Chairmen of the RPP and the RPP-N – Pashupati Shamsher Rana and Kamal Thapa respectively – issued a press statement and informed that the two parties would announce the merger amid a special function in Kathmandu.

They said the unity would be “a bid to establish a strong nationalist democratic force in the nation.”

Though the two parties were seen at odds during election of the prime minister on Wednesday, the parties decided to unite.

While the Rana-led RPP had voted for Pushpa Kamal Dahal as the PM, the Thapa-led RPP-N had voted against him.

The two parties were preparing for the unification for last few months.
