SOS to build 160 houses for quake-affected children in Sindhupalchok

sos-logoBhaktapur / Aug 12: The SOS Children’s Village has come to the rescue of the people affected by the earthquake of April 25, 2015.

Targeting children, the SOS has initiated a process to build houses for the quake victims of Bhimtar VDC-6, 7 and 8 of Sindhupalchok district, said national director of the SOS Nepal Sri Shankar Pradhananga.

The process to construct houses for the quake victims will start right after Dashain festival after an approval by the National Reconstruction Authority, he said.

As part of the help, the local people will be trained to construct the total 160 houses for the quake victims, he said.

Sindhupalchok is the district worst affected by the quake that killed nearly 9000 people across the country, injured around 22000 and ravaged hundreds of houses and structures.

Earlier, the SOS also provided financial help to a total of 200 households of the same VDC victimised by the quake to earn their livelihood, Pradhananga said.

Meanwhile, Siddhartha Kaul, President of the SOS Children’s Village International, who is scheduled to visit Nepal to inspect the school buildings built by the SOS for various schools in different districts affected by the quake, has announced to build a house for disabled children affected by the quake and construct a physiotherapy room in Jorpati.
