Tree plantation in memory of earthquake-deceased

community forestKathmandu / Aug 13: Saplings have been planted at Chakandole Community Forest at Mulpani in memory of 19 people killed in and aftermath of Gorkha Earthquake in Bageswori-Manohara municipality on the occasion of World Youth Day, today.

Inaugurating the programme by planting Bar and Pipal tree, former Speaker Subas Nembang said the tree plantation would contribute to prevent environmental degradation. “As human life without environmental balance is not possible, tree plantation is essential. We can also get liberated from problems stemming from climate change by planting saplings in barren cliffs”, he said, such campaign would be instrumental to transform blackening mountains snow-capped.

Nembang also stressed the need of enabling environment for all parties to go together for the implementation of the new constitution.

Nepali Congress lawmaker from Kathmandu constituency no 2, Deepak Prasad Kuinkel, said the tree plantation campaign across the country would substantially contribute to keep the environment fresh and benefit human life.

On the occasion, some 24 saplings of different species including bar, papal, kapur and dhupi were planted.

Meanwhile, 60 trees of different species were planted at Gokarna – the site for the construction of national martyr monument – under the aegis of Lions Club of Araniko. RSS
