Dr Govinda KC, health camp, SaptariKathmandu / Aug 17: Dr Govinda KC, the medico who has staged fast-unto-street for eight times demanding reforms in medical education and health sector in the country, is to start his another leg of crusade from August 20 and that’s in another form.

Organizing a press conference at the TU Teaching Hospital at Maharajgung on Wednesday, Dr KC announced to launch an avant-garde campaign to mount pressure on the government to implement all the agreements made with him during his previous hunger-strikes.

The senior orthopedic surgeon shared that he will be standing in front of the Prime Minister’s official residence at Baluwatar in the capital city to pile pressure on the government to bring into effect the agreements that Dr KC believes would end various anomalies and aberrations plaguing the medical sector in the country. “Since the government has not walked the talk yet, I have decided to wage a crusade from the street”, he said

Earlier on August 13, he had submitted a 6-point demand letter to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, drawing the latter’s attention towards amendment of the Medical Education Act registered in the parliament.

The 59-year-old bachelor had ended his eight round of fast-unto-death on the 16th day on July 21 after a four-point agreement was inked between him and the then government.

Dr KC bemoaned that although a month is about to go by since the last agreement, the government has not moved an inch for any action as pledged.

Demands waged during his eight hunger-strikes were impeachment of the CIAA Chief, amendment of the Medical Education Act, no affiliation for new medical college for next 10 years in Kathmandu, One Province: One government medical college and the like. RSS
