Over 33,000 Gorkha quake survivors received grant

Nepal Reconstruction AuthorityGorkha / Aug 20: As many as 33, 871 quake survivor locals in the district have received grant provided by the government to build their houses. Each quake affected household received Rs 50,000 through different banks.

The Gorkha quake occurred on April 25 last year had reportedly damaged thousands of houses in the district. Though, statistics in this regard had stated that over 70,000 houses were damaged only 58,503 were found eligible for receiving the grant in course of field study.

According to planning officer at the District Development Committee, Satish Bhattarai, locals at Laprak and Budhigandaki area are yet to sign grant contract. He shared that the contract has been made with 49,758 beneficiaries so far in the district.

He added that locals at Barpak, Saurpani and Hanshpur VDCS were constructing houses of late.

On the other hand, 15,629 have registered their complaints stating that they were deprived of getting grant claiming that they were genuine survivors. RSS
