Call to introduce integrated plan for child development

Bhaktapur / Aug 24: Demand has been made for introducing and implementing an integrated plans and programmes for good results of the budget to be allocated to local bodies under the headings of different child development programmes.

At an interaction programme organised by the Bhaktapur District Child Club Network here Tuesday, Bhaktapur Chief District Officer Tej Prasad Poudel stressed that the District Development Committee and Municipality should spend 10 percent of the budget released for child-related programmes to fight against child-labour. He sought noticeable outcomes in the sector of child development.

Local Development Officer Dhurab Prasad Koirala said though government, non-government and international donor agencies had invested much in the sector of child development, achievements were not sufficient. There were challenges in building a child-friendly society.

Women and Child Development Office Chief Nila Ghimire said the office had intensified campaign against child labour in the district.

Bhaktapur’s Superintendent of Police Kiran Bajracharya, Assistant District Education Officer Pushpa Raj Dhakal, Federation of Nepali Journalists, Bhaktapur chapter vice president Som Sharma ( Bajgain), Nagarkot Municipality Executive Officer Rajendra Karki and Bhaktapur Municipality Executive Officer Ganesh Nepali stressed on the need of proper utilislation of budget for child development.
