Plan to build 1,000 model schools in seven years

schoolKathmandu / Aug 24: The government plans to build 1,000 model schools in the coming seven years. Under Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Dr Mukund Mani Khanal, informed that the government had come up with this plan under School Development programme.

As per the plan, the existing community schools (running from grade 1 to 12) would be developed as model schools by making them student-friendly, capacitating teachers, equipping with information technology lab. Hostel for the indigenous and girl students and the students from remote area, playground, library and laboratory would other facilities to upgrade the schools to model status. For this, the model schools would get financial assistance from the government.

Under the first phase, the selected schools would get Rs 500,000 to Rs 700,000 in addition to the necessary grants, said Dr Khanal, adding that would the models schools must cater vocational education as agriculture, electrical engineering, and animal science.

Moreover, the principals of such schools get more authority than that of other school principals. RSS
