Around 200,000 houses to be retrofitted
Kathmandu / Sept 29: The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) has said that it would advance the reconstruction of the houses of earthquake survivors keeping in the centre the management of construction materials and necessary human resources including carpenter and masons.
At a regular press meet held in Lalitpur on Thursday, NRA Chief Executive Officer Sushil Gyawali pledged to not allow any problems to those enlisted as beneficiaries and constructing quake-resistant houses in attaining grants.
Sharing that as many as 15,000 technical human resources have been produced so far in the aftermath of the earthquake, he said additional human resources would be produced in a way to construct 15,000 houses soon.
“Emphasis will be laid on using local resources while constructing the houses”, he added. CEO Gyawali also said that full support is being received from the government and all political parties to the NRA in its efforts for reconstruction. “Monitoring will be carried out in an effective manner to make the works of NGOs involved in reconstruction relevant to the stipulated process and methods”.
Around 750,000 houses damaged by the earthquake would be reconstructed and partially damaged 200,000 houses would be retrofitted, said CEO Gyawali said. RSS
