Janakpur Literature Arts Festival kicks off

JanakpurJanakpurdham / Dec 11: The Janakpur Literature Arts Festival 2073 has kicked off at Janakpurdham on Sunday.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bimalendra Nidhi inaugurated the Festival organized by the Maithali Development Fund with an objective of promoting Maithali language, literature, arts and culture.

On the occasion, DPM Nidhi spoke of the need for mainstreaming Maitahli language and culture for which he stressed on continuity and activeness.

The Festival will feature various activities such as book exhibition, drama performance, traditional arts performance and discourse on promotion of Maithali language, literature, arts and culture.

Furthermore, social activists, scholars and politicians from Nepal and India will voice their views on different aspects of language, literature, language policy and current societal status among other relevant issues, according to the organizers.

Also, speaking at the programme CPN-UML Secretary Pradeep Gyawali urged the Maithali community to be alert towards preservation of Maithali language. He argued that it could be used as language for official use after Nepali.

Similarly, former minister Ramchandra Jha said that the Mithila Zone was in a sorry state due to the State’s cavalier attitude towards it.

Senior Vice Chair of Federal Socialist Forum Ashok Rai stated that the Maithali civilization be conserved as a common civilization.

Likewise, CPN-Revolutionary’s CP Gajurel called for cooperation from one and all to promote Maithali language. RSS
