Minister Karki for producing Nepali cinemas competing with other movies

film-development-boardKathmandu / Dec 12: Minister for Information and Communications, Surendra Kumar Karki, has said that attention should be paid to produce Nepali cinemas capable enough to compete with foreign cinemas.

During the monitoring of the Nepal Film Development Board on Monday, Communications Minister Karki said that any movie could be made the best one here due to geographical territory, culture and traditions, climate and various types of languages in Nepal.

Stressing the need of paying attention towards maintaining records of old movies, he drew the attention of the Board as required budget has already been allocated for the establishment of the ‘box office’ system.

Similarly, Secretary at the Communications Ministry, Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya, said that it was necessary to establish film artists development fund for those involved in cinema sector, and added that an arrangement could be made to provide monthly grants to elderly cine artists from the Fund.

Board Executive Chairman, Raj Kumar Rai, expressed commitment to start process for compilation of the films and establishing the ‘box office’ system. RSS
