local-level-restructuring-commissionKathmandu / Dec 19: The Local Level Restructuring Commission (LLRC) formed to determine the number and boundaries of village units, municipalities and specially protected or autonomous zones is likely to recommend a lesser number of local units unlike of its previous plan.

The Commission is likely to propose a lesser number of local units than that of its earlier plan acting on the proposals sent by the Local Level Restructuring Technical Committees in the districts. Such Committees in some districts proposed a lesser number of local units.

Commission member-secretary Dr Hari Poudel said there is the possibility of the creation of 72o – 73o local units (in a round figure) at the local level. Earlier, the Commission had planned for creating 744 local units.

The Commission is preparing to submit its report to the government on coming Wednesday. RSS
